About winery
Blato 1902 d.d. was founded in 1902 as the Croatian Agricultural Cooperative and is the legal successor of all forms of agricultural associations from its inception to the present day. The company is based in Blato on the island of Korčula, where, from the very beginning, its activities have focused on the production, processing, and sale of wine, extra virgin olive oil, the purchase of dried figs and carobs, and their distillation into brandy. Blato 1902 owns production areas in the Korčula wine region, which, with significant investments and the favorable climate of southern Dalmatia, contribute to the exceptional quality of the grapes used for producing premium wines. On its vineyards, indigenous varieties from the island of Korčula are grown, including Pošip, Plavac Mali, Cetinka, Rukatac, Plavina, and Zlatarica Blatska. Additionally, the company includes globally recognized varieties such as Merlot, Syrah, and Malbec in its wine portfolio. The company offers a total of 12 wine labels on the market. In addition to agricultural production, Blato 1902 d.d. is also involved in hospitality and retail. For over half a century, it has operated its own outlets in Zagreb and Rijeka, along with well-known restaurants and catering services, renowned for Mediterranean cuisine and top-notch service. The company’s mission is to find new customers while retaining existing ones, both in Croatia and on international markets. As part of this strategy, the company is expanding production and its retail network by opening new wine shops in Blato, Zagreb, Rijeka, and Vela Luka. Blato 1902 d.d. collaborates with over 500 cooperators and is 100% owned by small shareholders, including employees, former employees, and cooperators.
