About winery
The Dingač Winery, located in Potomje on the Pelješac Peninsula, has a long history dating back to 1902 when it was established as an agricultural cooperative owned by local shareholders. The first steps toward establishing its own winery were taken in 1918, as a response to unfavorable wine purchase conditions from wholesale merchants in Trstenik and Trpanj. Construction of the winery began in 1939, but work was interrupted by World War II and resumed only after the war ended. In the 1960s, 128 families were engaged in viticulture in the Dingač area. Today, the number of producers remains the same, but arable land has significantly expanded from the initial 28.2 hectares to the current 86 hectares. Despite increased production, the number of cooperative members has decreased to around fifty, as some have started their own wineries while others have moved away, reflecting the general demographic decline on Pelješac. Dingač Winery currently accounts for about 20% of the total annual wine production from the Dingač vineyards. It operates completely independently on the market, without strategic partners, allowing it to fully realize its market potential. Exports make up 25% of total sales, while the remaining 75% is sold on the domestic market, with 80% of that occurring during the tourist season. Over 80% of its domestic market placement is through retail chains, while 20% is sold to restaurants and directly to customers. The winery offers five labels, all made from the Plavac Mali variety, cultivated in the prestigious wine-growing region of Dingač. Winery Dingač has become a symbol of tradition, adaptability, and excellence, contributing to the preservation of the viticultural heritage of Pelješac.
