About winery
The tradition of viticulture and winemaking in the Skaramuča family is deeply rooted in the history of Pelješac. The story of the winery’s success began in 1992 when its founder, Ivo Skaramuča, became one of the pioneers of private viticulture and winemaking in Dalmatia. Through hard work and passion for wine, he established one of the most recognizable wine brands in Croatia. Today, the winery is managed by a team consisting of his son Igor Skaramuča, daughter Ivana Anđelić, and son-in-law Branimir Anđelić. Together, they maintain the vineyards, improve production processes, introduce innovations, and conquer new markets, positioning Skaramuča Winery among the leaders in Croatian winemaking. The winery’s vineyards are located in prestigious areas of the Pelješac Peninsula, including Pelješka župa and Dingač. Particularly notable are the vineyards on the southern slopes of Dingač, covering 20 hectares of steep terrain (30-70% gradient). This location, with its unique microclimate, soil, and the sun’s reflection from the sea and rocky surface, allows for the cultivation of the native Plavac Mali grape, which produces exceptional wines with unique aromas and quality. The winery is renowned for its premium red wine, Dingač, protected in 1961 by the Geneva Convention, making it the first Croatian wine to receive legal protection. In addition to Dingač, the winery offers Plavac Premium, Plavac, two white wines from the Pošip grape, and a rosé. With a total of ten labels, they cater to a wide range of styles and tastes. With a cellar capacity of 600,000 liters, featuring state-of-the-art stainless steel tanks and oak barrels, the winery produces over 80,000 bottles of premium Dingač, 20,000 bottles of Dingač Reserve, 150,000 bottles of Plavac, and 40,000 bottles of Plavac Premium annually. Their wines are celebrated both domestically and internationally, exporting to over 25 countries worldwide. Skaramuča Winery is now one of the largest private wineries in Croatia and the owner of the largest vineyard in Dingač, symbolizing tradition, quality, and innovation in Pelješac winemaking.
