About winery
Vukas Winery is located in Ponikve, in the hamlet of Boljenovići on the Pelješac Peninsula, surrounded by vineyards planted between 1950 and 1980, exclusively with the Plavac Mali variety. Dubravko Vukas and his brother took over the management of the winery in 2002, and after the 2003 harvest, they engaged professional expertise to improve vineyard work and wine production.
Since then, their focus has been on developing the winery and adopting an innovative approach to viticulture. Their first major success came in 2006 with the production of their premium wine, Plerej. The exceptional harvest of 2009 allowed for the creation of the special “Plerej Grand Cru,” made from late-harvested grapes.
Today, they cultivate 3.5 hectares of vineyards and produce 15,000 bottles annually. Their selection includes white wines such as Rukatac, Pošip, and a cuvée blend of Rukatac, Pošip, and Dubrovnik Malvasia (30%/40%/30%), three labels of red wines from Plavac Mali, with a fourth in preparation, and three types of sparkling wines. Almost all their wines are sold directly at the winery, making them rare even in specialized wine shops.
In addition to wines, Vukas Winery is renowned for its liqueurs, offering a rich variety of ten different types.

About
Dubravko and Đani Vukas
In the early 2000s, Dubravko Vukas, with the help of his brother Đani and enologist Goran Marmilić, founded his own winery, inheriting his love for viticulture from his father and grandfather. In addition to viticulture, he is involved in shellfish farming, and his goal was to produce a sparkling wine that would pair perfectly with wine tastings and shellfish. This led to the creation of his first sparkling wine made from the Rukatac variety, named “Decumanus”, which quickly won the hearts of many wine lovers.
