Organized by the Vinistra Association, the premier tasting of Istrian Malvasia wines from the 2023 harvest will take place at the Esplanade Hotel in Zagreb on February 12th. En Primeur, inspired by the French model of tasting young wines, was first organized by the association in 2012. Due to its positive reception, other associations such as Graševina Croatica (2013) and Vino Dalmacija (2014) have joined in the organization.

The main goal of the En Primeur tasting is to present Istrian Malvasia to professionals in the wine and gastronomy industry, including restaurateurs, sommeliers, wine shop owners, and wine critics. This event allows them to assess the potential of the harvest, facilitating their decision-making process when purchasing or reserving wines. Winemakers present their wines at this event, often still in the must stage, with the intention of predicting the character it will develop as it matures.

The En Primeur tasting is divided into two parts – the first part is reserved for professionals, while the second part is open to the general public. This format provides an opportunity for passionate wine enthusiasts, who are not involved in the wine industry professionally, to fully enjoy the event. As this expo has become an integral part of the wine calendar, it is expected that this year’s premier tasting of Istrian Malvasia will bring surprising delights to wine lovers.
