About winery
Karaman Winery, located in Pridvorje in the heart of Konavle, is dedicated exclusively to the cultivation and production of one variety – Dubrovnik Malvasia. On 5 hectares of vineyards in the Konavle wine region, Niko Karaman leads the renaissance of this indigenous variety, making him the most prominent producer of Dubrovnik Malvasia. The winery produces around 25,000 bottles annually and offers two premium products on the market: dry Dubrovnik Malvasia, which highlights all the characteristics of the variety in its full glory, and Prošek, an elegant dessert wine that celebrates the richness and refinement of this grape.

About
Niko Karaman
Niko Karaman, oenologist and winery owner, comes from a family with a rich tradition in viticulture and winemaking. At the end of the Homeland War, he saved the Dubrovnik malvasia variety from extinction, spreading its value and quality throughout the vineyards of Konavle. From three healthy vines he discovered, he established his first vineyard dedicated to malvasia.
He invited friends and professors from the Faculty of Agriculture in Zagreb – Dr. Edi Maletić, Dr. Ivan Pejić, Dr. Jasminka Karoglan Kontić, and Dr. Nikola Mirošević – to Konavle to work with the Dubrovnik State Archives on the project of revitalizing and protecting this noble variety.
