About winery
Monte Cristo wines are the result of the dedicated work and passion for winemaking of the Totić family from Kuna Pelješka. The tradition of cultivating vineyards and producing wine, dating back to the 13th century within the Totić family, continues to thrive today. Years of hard work and commitment have been crowned with the creation of the wine “Monte Cristo,” inspired by the legendary character from the novel The Count of Monte Cristo. The Totić family’s vineyards are spread across several locations in Kuna Pelješka, some over 80 years old. The finest Plavac Mali grapes are harvested from the sun-drenched slopes of Rota Hill, where gradients reach up to 60º—perfect conditions for producing the premium Monte Cristo Plavac wine. From the same variety, but grown on gentler slopes, comes the refined Monte Cristo Rose. Their white Monte Cristo Rukatac is crafted from the indigenous Rukatac variety, offering freshness and aromatic appeal. Monte Cristo wines are produced in the Totić family cellar in Kuna Pelješka, where they age and mature in stainless steel and wooden barrique barrels before being bottled in luxurious packaging that reflects their exceptional quality.
