About winery

The Zure Winery, located in Lumbarda on the island of Korčula, takes its name from a family nickname and proudly upholds a longstanding tradition of cultivating the indigenous grape variety Grk. This unique variety, grown on the sandy soils of Lumbarda, is the cornerstone of their winemaking story. In 2011, through land reclamation at the “Defora” site and under the expert guidance of Prof. Dr. Sc. Bernard Kozina from the Faculty of Agriculture in Zagreb, the family established a modern vineyard with 33,000 vines, an olive grove with 500 trees, and an orchard with 200 diverse fruit trees. All wines produced at the winery come exclusively from their own vineyards. Special emphasis is placed on the Grk variety, making them the largest producers of this grape and wine in Lumbarda. Their labels include Grk “Bartul,” Grk Sur Lie, Pošip, Plavac Mali, and a blend of five red varieties named “Rebellion.” In addition to wines, they produce Grk-based Prošek called “Elysion” and a sparkling wine, “Quinta Essentia,” showcasing the Grk variety in an innovative and sophisticated way. The Batistić-Zure family is also engaged in agritourism, supplying their restaurant “Zure” with their own produce, including vegetables, fish, olive oil, and pork. Visitors can savor traditional dishes paired with their wines, olive oil, and a variety of fruit and herbal liqueurs, offering a true gastronomic experience. The winery proudly highlights numerous awards for its exceptional wines, including two prestigious gold medals from the Decanter competition – for Grk Bartul 2019 and Grk Sur Lie Reventon 2019. Additionally, their efforts have been recognized with numerous silver and bronze accolades.
